EXPANDING MINDS
THROUGH FLEX DANCE & CREATIVE MENTORSHIP
Flex OUT provides free Flex sessions and workshops for the community as well as youth that have been released from detention. We collaborate with community partners and develop Block Parties to occupy space in the name of art and non-violence. Our events provide the perfect platform to bring awareness and excitement to Flex dancing. The community gathers to celebrate the legacy of Flexing and bring at-risk youth to the center of the party to express themselves.
Our Flex OUT Initiative includes youth-Interns to work with and learn from our team. Some of our interns were past Flex IN students as well.
In January 2017, the Flex Program was honored to receive a Brooklyn Arts Council grant to provide services in community centers. The FlexOUT pilot is an important initiative to realize our vision of community building and provide creative alternatives to recidivism.
